HeartKept Home + Boutique: A Brand Session in the Heart of Port Angeles

There's a particular kind of light that finds its way through the front windows of HeartKept Home + Boutique in the mid-morning — soft, unhurried, falling just right across a stack of linen, a vintage frame, a handmade something you didn't know you needed until it was right in front of you. That light felt like a collaborator on this shoot.

Located at 129 E 1st Street in downtown Port Angeles, HeartKept is the kind of shop that earns its name. Ashley and Jeanette have built something genuinely special here: a space where rescued pieces live alongside carefully chosen new goods, where every vignette feels intentional without feeling precious. Walking in with a camera, the hardest part wasn't finding a shot — it was choosing which one to make first.

The goal for this brand session was threefold: capture the space, showcase the products, and introduce the people. Those last two words matter most. Ashley and Jeanette are HeartKept. Their personalities — warm, grounded, a little playful — show up in the way they've arranged a shelf or tucked a dried flower bundle just so. Photographing them meant finding the moments where that ease came through naturally, and it didn't take long.

We worked through natural light all morning, leaning into the layered textures and quiet energy the shop does so well. Woven baskets, worn wood, fresh goods with that satisfying just-arrived feeling. One of my favorite frames from the day was almost accidental — a slant of light catching the edge of a display as Ashley moved through the background, soft and perfectly unposed. That's the kind of image that tells the truth about a place.
